Average temperatures for both the contiguous U.S. and the globe during the winter (December 2007-February 2008) was the coolest since 2001. The average U.S. winter temperature was 33.2 degrees Fahrenheit which was 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th Century average but the coolest since 2001.
