Births: Provisional Data for 2016

The number of births and the fertility rate in the U.S. were both down 1% in 2016.  The fertility rate of 62 births per 1,000 women was a record low for the U.S.  Also presents data on marital status of mothers, preterm births, cesarean deliveries, and low birthweight.  From the National Center for Health Statistics
