Letter of guidance sent to public schools and colleges directing them to provide transgender students with access to bathrooms and locker rooms that match their chosen gender identity.  The letter summarizes school obligations toward transgender students under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and how the federal government will evaluate a school’s compliance with those obligations.  The letter begins on p. 2 following a Notice of Language Assistance.  From the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department and the Office for Civil Rights of the U.
