2016 One-Year Seismic Hazard Forecast for the Central and Eastern United States from Induced and Natural Earthquakes

Announces the availability of new maps which identify potential hazards from both human-induced and natural earthquakes.  In the past the federal government had mapped only natural earthquake hazards.  The report shows that 7 million people live and work in areas of the central and eastern U.S. with potential for damaging shaking from induced seismicity, primarily from wastewater disposal from oil and gas production operations.  From the U.
