Trends in Low-Risk Cesarean Delivery in the United States, 1990-2013

The overall cesarean delivery rate increased 60% in the U.S. from 1996 through 2009.  This report examines trends in cesarean deliveries by state of residence, gestational age, age of mother, and race/Hispanic origin of mother.  Low risk deliveries are those after 37 or more weeks and single, head-first births to first-time mothers.  From the National Center for Health Statistics
