Personal Income for Metropolitan Areas: 2009

Personal income declined by 1.8% in the metropolitan areas of the U.S. in 2009.  Income declined in 223 metro areas, increased in 134, and remained unchanged in 9.  Personal income increased by 1.2% in the local Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News metro area. Per capita income increased 1% in the local metro area to $39,674, good for 67th place among U.S. metro areas.  From the Bureau of Economic Analysis
