Reports a reduction of 1.1% in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, including such gases as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide which contribute to global warming, during 2006. The reduction was attributed to warmer winter weather conditions, restrained use of gasoline because of rising fuel prices, and increased use of natural gas and renewable sources in electricity generation. The report is required to be submitted to the United Nations Secretariat under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. From the Environmental Protection Agency.
