Estimated Pregnancy Rates by Outcome for the United States, 1990-2004

Presents revised pregnancy rates for 1990-2000 and new rates for 2001-2004. Reports that in 2004 an estimated 6.3 million pregnancies resulted in 4.1 million live births, 1.2 million abortions, and 1 million fetal losses. The teenage pregnancy rate dropped 38% during the period 1990-2004 reaching an historic low of 72.2 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15-19. From the National Center for Health Statistics.
