New Orleans’ Parishes Top Nation in Population Growth Rate

Two hard hit areas of New Orleans, the parishes of Orleans and St. Bernard, were the fastest growing U.S. counties during the period July 2006 through June 2007. Other fast growing counties were in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona and Illinois. 70 of the 100 fastest growing counties were in the South. From the Census Bureau.

Estimates that the government would record a deficit of $396 billion or 2.8% of GDP in 2008 if the budget proposals of the president were adopted by Congress.
