5-4 Supreme Court decision that upheld a Kansas death penalty law which had been struck down by the Kansas Supreme Court. The law says that juries should impose the death penalty when aggravating evidence of the brutality of a crime and mitigating factors explaining the actions of a defendant are equal in weight.
